What is Ginger

Ginger  is a flowering plant whose rhizome, ginger root or ginger, is widely used as a spice and a folk medicine. It is a herbaceous perennial which grows annual pseudostems (false stems made of the rolled bases of leaves) about one meter tall bearing narrow leaf blades. The inflorescences bear flowers having pale yellow petals with purple edges, and arise directly from the rhizome on separate shoots

The Health Benefits Ginger

Ginger is well known for its many health benefits.

It’s known to aid in the reduction of blood clot formation, it can help women reduce the symptoms of morning sickness, and it also has anti-viral properties and may help against fighting the common cold.

The beneficial compounds found in ginger are found in the volatile oils, which give ginger that spicy, pungent taste. Recent research has shown that it may help with joint pain for those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis as it reduces inflammation throughout the body.

Ginger is a great accompaniment to many fish dishes. You often see it next to sushi. You can also add it to fresh juices as it adds an extra kick to the juice.
