    How do you judge the caliber of a doctor? On reading reviews, it seems mostly based on personality and interpersonal communication skills or the outcome of an established procedure rather than the skill of the operant. How do you know they are any good in the operating room or the treatment they prescribe is more effective than what might be done by another physician? I really don't know the answer to the question of who is any good. Number of patient deaths in the operating room or waiting for treatment? Number of serious outcomes from improper medication? Number of malpractice lawsuits? Good luck on finding that information. But I'm still alive and waiting for my aneurism to...do something. Once a year check ups to see how it's doing is the order of business. Having it blow out and being within treatment distance/time is also a part of the scenario. In the meantime, I just carry on and trust that no other course of action applies despite all of our pricey modern medical advances, procedures and protocols or perhaps those unknown available elsewhere. Is Dr. Wan any good? Beats me. Nice enough guy. I find his character a touch arrogant but so what? He's the only cardiac surgeon I've ever met. Maybe it comes with the degree. If he knows his stuff, I couldn't care any less about his personality. Medical skill is the issue but evaluated by who? It's not like Doctors have trophy cases in their office showing off their surgical prowess. I'm sure he is a perfectly capable surgeon. Maybe brilliant! Maybe mediocre. I just don't know how it can be measured publicly. Rely on forums like this? Ummm...yeah...sure. So if you trust your health on a website with four simplistic, generic questions and rambling commentaries on results without comparable, parallel performance evaluations, carry on. Actually...we really don't have any choice.

    The best doctor you could ever have. He was patient but thorough and told me everything that could happen both good and bad. He saved my life and I am very grateful to him. I had an Aortic valve aneurism that he repair before it ruptured. Thank you so much Dr Wan
